Today's Thought

The Latest Individual Casting

Local artist Irene McGrath came to us with an idea.  Irene uses nature as her inspiration and, after finding some ammonites, asked if it was possible to cast some in brass from the original.   And so, after thinking about things, we decided it was possible and would "give it a try".  And Irene was enthusiastic to be part of the casting process and so she helped throughout.      So...........

First we make the mould from the original,

then we pour in extremely hot brass, wait for it to cool, break it out and .........

hey presto ......... we have a metal copy of the original just waiting to be finished.

And now the ammonites have been polished and mounted.

We think they look wonderful and could be used as feature garden ornaments, or even as a feature in a house.  If you like what you see and would be interested in talking to Irene about her work, she can be contacted on 01724 343533
