REFURBISHMENTS

Restoring the original Francis light shown above was a great challenge. Battered, chromed and with pieces missing, it required a delicate touch and many hours of work. Firstly the lamp needed to be taken apart piece by piece - carefully checking each part to ascertain the condition of each and to clearly determine the work to be done.
Each part was carefully stripped of the chrome and polished - any refurbishment work needing to be done was completed piece by piece at this stage. The missing parts were cast and polished. Finally all was laid out ready for re-assembly and testing.

And finally it was re-assembled and tested.
And the beauty of the lamp was revealed. A bright, shining brass original Francis lamp to be returned to its owners for placement on their narrowboat.

And now the lamp is proudly mounted on its new home - in pride of place.

And recently we have refurbished this one too!!!

VINTAGE SHIP'S LAMP
Take a vintage lamp, covered with layer upon layer of paint which had solidified in all the moving parts - such as the hinge etc. Very carefully remove the paint layer by layer until all the parts were free - and the brass was revealed underneath.
Very carefully take it apart and polish each piece individually - taking great care as we go - and then re-assemble to reveal it in all its beauty.
You would not believe that it was the same lamp!!!!

AND THEN THERE WAS THE PORTHOLE TO MATCH THE LAMP!!
Again, heavily coated with paint - just to open it required patience before we even started!!! But we perservered, taking our time to ensure the best result was obtained. And the final product was all ready to take its place on the wall, with the lamp, as part of a wonderful display.

And now ...............................................
